Last night, Paper magazine hosted an opening party for their second annual Super(Duper)Market at the St. Patrick’s Youth Center at 268 Mulberry Street. After last year’s stellar installment, the event returns with a vibrant lineup of artisanal food purveyors and indie entrepreneurs hailing from San Francisco, New Orleans, Portland, Ore., Los Angeles, Detroit, New York and Springfield, Mo.
Inspired by a trip to Northern California three years ago, Paper Magazine founder and co-editor, Kim Hastreiter dreamed up the 3 day pop-up extravaganza—a delectable smörgåsbord brimming with sweets, savoury bites, and delightful inedible goodies for food lovers and creatives alike.
We sampled the quirky and imaginative flavours of San Francisco’s Humphry Slocombe, Pok Pok’s drinking vinegars full of healthy benefits, the cheddar-tastic cornbreads by Jack’s Chedbred and La Newyorkia’s exotic mexican ice creams with chilli chocolate sauce, to name a few. There were also an array of inedible goodies, like the quality tools by Best Made Company and the Clare Crespo’s crocheted oysters—which looked like the real thing!
Paper Magazine’s Super(Duper)Market through Sunday August 4th at 268 Mulberry Street.
