Reconstruction 3.0 returned for another spectacular rendition this year, with the students from Parsons The New School for Design, The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and the Joffrey Ballet School’s Jazz and Contemporary Program joining forces to present a tour de force evening of music, dance and fashion.
Marking its third collaboration with Louis Vuitton, Reconstruction 3.0: Life is a Journey takes its inspiration from the heritage of travel.
Featuring five teams each consisting of a fashion designer, composer, choreographer and dancers, each team developed their own unique performance with original score, choreography, and remarkable garments which push the possibilities of materiality in fashion.
Standouts of the evening include digital#connect, a performance that held up to its name and took us on a journey into a futuristic digital world. Clever use of the stage and lighting techniques were elevated to higher effect with the edgy cyber costumes.
The garments created for Chronogenesis was a revelation in material recontextualization and originality. The fashion designers was innovative in their approach in transforming the original materiality of the garments into something completely new and unexpected.
This genius cross-disciplinary initiative nurtures the diverse talents of its students, broadening their horizons to explore new possibilities and working together to create something truly extraordinary.
